  • adiClub: Important Information about Switching Countries

As the adiClub offer is region-specific and not yet available in all countries, it is important to understand some of the scenarios that go along with making changes to the country you have listed in your profile.

Firstly, please note: if adiClub is not yet available in the country you have listed in your profile, it will not be possible to switch the country to one that already has adiClub available there. There are a few reasons for this (both legal and technical), and we therefore cannot allow for this kind of change to be made. That being said: in the event that you end up moving to another country where adiClub has already been rolled out, we recommend creating a brand new adidas Runtastic account with the new country listed, exporting your existing adidas Runtastic account data via runtastic.com, and then importing this data into the new account.

Secondly, please note: if your account already has adiClub and you attempt to switch the country to one that does not currently have adiClub available, this will also not be possible. It is only possible to change the account country from one adiClub region to another. For example: changing from the United States to the United Kingdom will be possible as they are both adiClub countries. Furthermore, please also note that when you change between two adiClub countries, the points do not transfer over. In the example scenario with the United States and United Kingdom, the points earned in the United States will stay there, the points for the UK will be set to 0 (assuming you haven’t earned any adiclub points there yet) and if you wish to change back to the United States, they will still be there.

We plan to bring more countries into adiClub over time. Thus, in the event that your current country does not have the adiClub offer, be on the lookout for future updates from adidas Runtastic as this could be subject to change! In any event, you will be informed accordingly should we open this offer up to your region.

  • Data Transfer of Controllership FAQ

    What’s happening?

If you’re reading this, it’s because you may have seen a pop-up in our apps or an email notifying you about a process we have initiated to transfer the controllership of your personal data or risk the deletion of it. Not to worry! We’re here to clarify everything you need to know in order to keep you informed about what’s happening with your personal data and make sure you can continue to use our apps as seamlessly as possible.

What’s the transfer of data controllership?

As mentioned in the notification, adidas Runtastic has been a proud member of the adidas family since 2015, but we’re currently moving even closer to our parent company. In order to do that, we are changing the entity that provides the sports apps to you as a user. Here’s the legal breakdown:

    • Starting in 2022, we began to provide our sports apps as a feature/benefit of adiClub Membership through adidas. This change was rolled out starting in March, but the actual date may vary depending on the country in which you reside.

    • All of your sports app activity data collected since then, is currently being processed under the responsibility of adidas and according to the adiClub Privacy Notice.

    • The personal data collected under your previous contract with Runtastic (which will end on the Deletion Start Date as defined in the table below) and processed according to the Runtastic Privacy Notice is still available in the apps at this point in time. We need your authorization to

      • transfer this data under your adiClub Membership, i.e. to further process it under controllership of adidas and according to the membership Privacy Notice
      • merge it with your adidas data (if available).

    • If you provide authorization by accepting the data transfer, you will continue to be able to access the historical data in our apps. If you do not provide authorization, that data will be deleted permanently starting at the end of the opt-in period

    • If you have purchased a Premium Membership, your paid Premium Membership will still be provided by Runtastic.

When will I be able to opt in or out? When will this data be deleted? Who will be responsible for processing my data?

This depends on the country in which you reside. To make this as simple as possible, we have created the following table which contains all the information you need regarding the timeframe in which you can give your authorization, the responsible entity, as well as when the deletion will begin to take effect.

    January 30th - March 12th, 2023

    Why is this happening now?

This transition will allow us to provide you with a better experience across the entire adidas digital universe. It will also allow us to continue to work toward tailoring experiences specific to your individual interests as an athlete and deliver on the feedback from our amazing community.

    What data would I lose?

If the opt-in is declined, all personal data present on your account that was recorded before the date listed in the table above, will be deleted once the opt-in period has passed. It will not be possible to recover this data once it has been deleted.

This includes (but is not limited to):

    • Activities
    • Followers
    • Challenge joins and contributions
    • Newsfeed entries
    • Goals

Data recorded after the date mentioned in the table, will still be present within your account.

If I don’t opt in, will my entire account be deleted?

No, you will still be able to log into your account after the data deletion takes place. However, any data/progress/activities recorded before the date mentioned in the table will no longer be available.

    How do I opt in?

This part is easy! Once you see the pop-up message in the app, you simply need to tap on the button labeled ‘Transfer data.’ Once done, there is no further action required on your part, and all your activities and progress will remain as they always have.

If you declined already: no need to worry! You will see reminders in the app in the weeks leading up to the respective deletion date, which will allow you to opt in once more. There will be plenty of opportunities to transfer your personal data right up until the date the opt-in period ends. After the pop-up message is shown, you can always review this information via the ‘Bell’ icon in the Feed tab.

Once I’ve opted in, what’s next?

That’s it! Once you’ve confirmed that you’ve accepted this transfer, there is no need for any further action on your part whatsoever. We at adidas Runtastic will handle the rest from here on out and ensure that you can continue enjoying all that our apps have to offer!

Can I still save my data if I choose not to opt in?

Yes, you can export your data ahead of time in order to save it before the deletion takes place. More information on how to do this can be found here. If you choose, you can also import your data back into the apps at a later point in time.

  • How do i sign up to become an adiClub member?

No need to sign up! If you have an adidas account, you’re automatically part of adiClub. Don’t worry, there are no strings attached – you choose if you want to complete your profile and make use of it or not, as with any other feature in the app.

Note: After registration it could take a few minutes until your adiClub profile and experience is available in your app.

  • How do i earn adiClub points?

You get your first adiClub points simply for creating (or just having) an adidas account. You can earn more points by completing your profile, making purchases, completing adidas product reviews, participating in adidas Runners events – and also by tracking your activities in the adidas Running or your workouts in the adidas Training by Runtastic app. Plus, we’re constantly working on finding new ways for you to earn points.

Points for purchases made at adidas.com or from the adidas app will be allocated to your account after the order has been confirmed and shipped, which generally takes up to 72 hours. In some instances your points could take up to a week to get posted to your account. Points for in-store purchases will be allocated to your account within 72 hours after the purchase.

Members must be signed in to the adidas app or on adidas.com to collect points. In-store members need to be identified at checkout by showing their adiClub Membership Pass in the adidas app or by providing their email or adiClub ID.

Please note that points are removed for any products that are returned.

  • How do I earn adiClub points in the adidas Running and Training app?

You can earn points in the adidas Running app simply by tracking your fitness activities.

You will receive points based on the distance of your completed runs or cycling activities.

Please note that only "Running", "Cycling", "Road Biking", "Mountain Biking", "Handbiking" and workouts in the adidas Training app tracked via GPS count – manual entries and edited activities are not eligible for receiving points. This means, for example, that treadmill running is excluded.

You can also earn points by participating in adidas Runners events and checking in via the adidas Running app.

Plus, you will also receive points for creating an adidas account for the first time with the app.

  • I didn’t receive my adiClub points. How can I claim them?

For points to be correctly allocated to your profile, you need to be signed in to your account when making purchases and completing interactions, or be identified as a adiClub member in stores.

When making a purchase at adidas.com or from the adidas app, points will be allocated to your account after the order has been confirmed and shipped which generally takes up to 72 hours.
