• Shoe Tracking

Do you know the last time you changed your running shoes? We recommend that you change your running shoes, depending on the model, about every 500 kilometers to reduce the risk of injury.

The Shoe Tracking feature automatically assigns your kilometers to your running shoe.

    Add a Shoe

Follow these simple steps to add a shoe for the first time:

    • Tap the menu icon in the lower right corner and then “Settings”
    • Select “My Shoes”
    • Tap “Add Your First Shoe”
    • Select the brand of your shoe from the list or enter the brand in the search field
    • Select your model from the list or enter the model in the search field
    • Enter a Nickname, Size and Color for your shoe and tap the arrow to save your information
    • Select a date from which all your activities since then will be assigned to your shoe
    • Select the Activity Type you would like to assign to this shoe* and tap the Next arrow to save your information
    • Set a limit for your shoe** and save your shoe

    * Shoe Tracking is available for Running, Walking, Nordic Walking, Hiking and Running (Treadmill).

** We recommend retiring your shoes after 500 km. At this point, the cushioning capability of your shoes decreases, exposing your joints to greater shock and force.

Note: If you cannot find the brand or model of your shoe, select “Other” and enter the model name in the Nickname field.

Follow these simple steps to edit the details of a shoe or view the statistics:

    • Tap “Additional Infos” at the top and then tap the pen at the bottom

    Retire the Shoe

If your shoe has exceeded the recommended distance, you will receive a notification in an info screen. You can ignore the message by tapping “Not now” or view the details of the shoe by tapping “Go to shoe”.

Here, you have the possibility to retire your shoe by tapping “Retire”.

  • Info, Tips & Tricks Regarding GPS On Windows Phone

If your GPS results appear to be inaccurate or you are not able to get GPS signal please follow these instructions:

    1. Make sure you have installed the latest version of the Runtastic app

    2. Reboot your smartphone and make sure that you open the app with a direct line to the sky

    3. Before you start tracking your next session, be sure to wait until there is a green GPS signal indicator. If not, open  Nokia / Bing Maps, then open the Runtastic app and let it search for 2-5 minutes to lock onto a GPS signal.

    4. If none of the above work, it is possible the app did not download to the phone correctly, try deleting/reinstalling the app. Your activity history will be cleared from the device, so make sure that you upload all sessions to Runtastic.com beforehand.

Please note that if you are using a second app which uses GPS the GPS enabled for the Runtastic app is automatically disabled.

Note: If you do experience a weak GPS signal and your activity tracking appears inaccurate, you can edit your session manually on Runtastic.com afterwards. Also due to the different built-in GPS receivers in each smartphone we can’t guarantee exact tracking results. When starting an activity please try to avoid the following areas:

    • High buildings
    • Deep forests
    • Areas where it's very cloudy
    • Huge amounts of water like lakes, sea etc.

If you end up in these areas above this can affect your GPS signal during your activity.

Be aware that just because the some map apps like Google Maps, may show your location on the map, this does not mean that the device's GPS is functioning properly or that a GPS fix has been obtained. The data used to show your location on the map may be based on cellular network or Wi-Fi signals.
