• Change My Profile Details

    Follow these simple steps to change your profile details in the adidas Running app:

    • Tap “Profile” on the tab bar
    • Tap the “gear icon” in the top right corner
    • Select “Edit Profile”

    Now you can change your profile settings, e.g. your location, birthdate, height, weight or email address

  • Connect to MyFitnessPal

    Follow these simple steps to connect the adidas Running app to MyFitnessPal:

    • Tap “Profile” followed by the “gear icon” in the top right corner
    • Select “Partner Accounts”
    • Connect to MyFitnessPal by tapping “Connect”

    If you are having troubles establishing a connection, try the following:

    • Disconnect your account from MyFitnessPal in the settings of the adidas Running app and on Runtastic.com
    • Log out of every involved portal
    • Log in again and try to establish a connection
  • Change Units

    Follow these simple steps to change units in the adidas Running app:

    • Tap the “Profile” tab on the tab bar
    • Tap the “gear icon” in the top right corner
    • Select “Units”
    • Now you can change the units of distance, weight and temperature by tapping each one
  • Language settings

    The language of our adidas Runtastic apps is the same as the system language of your android phone. If your system language is e.g. German, the adidas Runtastic apps will also be shown in german language. 

    How to change the language of your Android Phone:

    Go to the settings of your android and choose "System". Scroll down until you reach "Language & Region". In the settings of "Language & Input" tap "Language & Region" and choose your language from the list showing up. To save your language press the back button. Your phone is now being updated to your chosen language. Therefore the adidas Runtastic apps update their languages too.

  • View My History

    To view your history in the adidas Running app, tap the “Progress” tab. Your most recent activities will be displayed at the top of the screen. To view your full history, tap “Show more”. You can sort your history by time period and activity type.

    Simply tap a specific activity to view it in more detail.

  • LIVE Tracking

    Enable LIVE tracking to let your followers know that you’re going out for a run. 

    Follow these simple steps to enable LIVE Tracking in the adidas Running app and allow adidas Runtastic apps users to see where you are on the map, how far you’ve gone and how fast you’re going:

    • Tap the Activity Setup icon next to the “Start” button
    • Tap LIVE Tracking
    • Toggle LIVE Tracking on

    On this screen, you will also find additional settings for the LIVE Tracking. Choose whether to allow cheering and/or sharing to Facebook.


    How will my followers be notified that I am LIVE tracking?

    Shortly after you tap “START LIVE,” the link to your LIVE activity will be sent via push notification to your followers (those who have enabled push notifications for LIVE tracking). Those who do not have push notifications activated can find the link to your LIVE activity either in the Notification Inbox or at the top of the News Feed under “Now LIVE.” 



    Enable the toggle next to “Allow Cheering” to get cheered on during a run. This will allow your followers to cheer you on directly in the app and you will hear the cheer they send played through your headphones. 


    My settings are private, why can users who are not my followers still see my LIVE activities and send me LIVE Cheers?

    If you don’t want your activity to be public, don’t go LIVE. When you enable LIVE Tracking, it’s similar to running a “public race” you’ve signed up for. You can’t control who is watching you run or who is on the sidelines cheering you on – the same goes for LIVE Tracking.

  • Enable/Disable the Voice Coach

    Follow these simple steps to enable/disable the Voice Coach in the adidas Running app:

    • Tap the Activity Setup icon next to the “Start” button
    • Tap “Voice Coach”
    • Toggle “Voice Coach” on or off

    On this screen, you can decide when you wish to receive the voice feedback, for example after each kilometer, or after you have reached a certain duration. You can also choose your prefered audio language and adjust the volume settings.

  • Enable/Disable the Auto Pause Feature

    Follow these simple steps to enable/disable the Auto Pause* feature in the adidas Running app:

    • Tap the Activity Setup icon next to the “Start” button
    • Scroll down and tap “Auto Pause”
    • Toggle the Auto Pause on or off

    * This feature is available to you in the adidas Running app as a Premium Member.

  • Connect a Heart Rate Monitor

    The adidas Running app gives you the option of connecting a Heart Rate Monitor so you can record your heart rate during a running session. To connect a Heart Rate Monitor, simply open the Activity Setup by tapping the Activity Setup icon next to the “Start” button and tap “Heart Rate”. 

    Runtastic Heart Rate Combo Monitor

    To connect the Runtastic Heart Rate Combo Monitor, make sure that the Bluetooth of your device is switched on and then put on the Monitor like you would when going for a run.

    Other Monitors

    This option allows you to connect other Heart Rate Monitors. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that your HR monitor will work as each device can have different specifications.

    Setting up Heart Rate zones

    The option "Edit your Heart Rate Zones" allows you to customize the Heart Rate Zones to fit your personal values.

  • Setup & Activity Setup Screen

    To change the Activity Type, tap the Activity Setup icon next to the “Start” button (the current Activity Type will be displayed).

    You will reach the Activity Setup screen, which allows you to choose all aspects of your next activity in one place.

    This view allows you to configure the following elements of your activity:

    • Activity Type: Select the type of your activity, eg Running, Walking etc
    • Music & Story Running: Select if you want to listen to music while exercising or try one of our Story Runs
    • Workout Type: Select how you want to work out
    • Select a Route*: Pick one of your Routes to follow

    At the bottom of the screen, you can activate or deactivate a few more functions:

    • Customize displayed values: Take a look at this article for more information about this function
    • Heart Rate Monitor: If you own a compatible Heart Rate Monitor, you can connect it with the app right here
    • Voice Coach: Here you can find all the settings relating to the Voice Coach feature
    • LIVE Tracking: Here you can find all the settings relating to LIVE Tracking
    • Auto Pause: Here you can find all the settings relating to the Auto Pause feature
    • Countdown: Enable/Disable a 15-second countdown before the start of your session. This option comes in handy when you need some time to put your phone away and get ready

    Tap “Done” in the top right hand corner to save any changes you have made. 

    Once configured, you can simply hit “Start” on the main screen to start your activity. You don’t need to repeat this setup each time before you work out because the adidas Running app will remember your settings.

  • Calculation of Dehydration

    The amount of water your body loses during your activity is an approximate calculation based on exertion and calories burned. The calculation also factors in the outdoor temperature and your elevation.

  • Log In and Log Out of the App

    Log in

    When starting the app for the very first time, you will be greeted by several info screens. Simply skip them by swiping to the left until you come to the login screen.

    If you already have an adidas account, select “Log in” at the bottom and enter your email address and password. Then, tap the “Log in” button again.

    If you do not have an account* yet, you can create one by tapping “Sign Up”. Simply provide us with a few bits of information, like your email address, and tap “Join.”

    You will be asked to provide some additional information, which will allow the app to calculate calories burned more accurately. Now tap “Save.” Congratulations! You have just created your adidas account.

    You can also log in using the “Sign in with Facebook” button, which is also located on the login screen. If you do not have an adidas account yet, you can create one at this time.

    Log out

    To log out of the app, tap “Profile” followed by the “gear icon” in the top right hand corner. Select “Log out” at the bottom of the screen.

    *It is now mandatory to have an account to use the adidas Runtastic apps. There are many benefits of having an adidas account. Most importantly, it enables us to safeguard your activity statistics. This means that even if you lose your phone or change devices, you won’t lose your data! Rest assured that your data is never shared with third parties.

  • GPS Troubleshooting Guide for Android Devices

    If you’re having difficulties tracking distance with your Runtastic app, it is likely that your device is experiencing GPS issues. Due to the different built-in GPS receivers in each smartphone we can’t always guarantee exact tracking results. However, if your GPS results appear to be inaccurate or you are unable to get a GPS signal, please use our Step by Step Troubleshooting Guide below:

    Step 1  Install the latest version of the Runtastic app from the Google Play Store if your app is not yet updated

     Step 2 Set the timezone correctly in your device

    1. Go to your phone’s settings
    2. Select the "Date and time" item and ensure the "Automatic date and time" and "Automatic time zone" checkboxes are checked. GPS and the Runtastic app rely heavily on an accurate time and time zone.

     Step 3 Ensure that GPS is enabled on your device

    1. Go to your phone’s settings
    2. Select “Location Settings”
    3. It may be that your phone has three different modes for location services, “High Accuracy” , “Power Saving,” or “Device Only”.  If this is the case, always select “High accuracy” to enable your phone to use the GPS and your phone’s network to retrieve the location points.

     Step 4 Give the Runtastic app permission to access your location:

    1. Go to your phone’s settings
    2. Select “Apps”
    3. Find Runtastic in the list and ensure “Location” is enabled

    (Note: the location of the app permissions can vary on different Android devices)

     Step 5 Deactivate the power saver on your device

    Many new smartphones use a “Smart Manager” or similar kind of power saver, which might cause your app to crash, or interfere with the GPS tracking. For detailed information on deactivating the power saver on popular devices, see here.

    Step 6 Disable optimization if it is enabled (for devices running Android 6 or higher)

    Optimization might block some of the functionality of your app so we recommend all our users to disable it if is enabled. For guidance on how to disable optimization for popular devices, see here.

    Step 7 Ensure that the GPS signal indicator is green before you hit start. Try to avoid starting your activity in areas where there may be a weaker GPS signal, i.e. near high buildings, deep forests, or near huge amounts of water like lakes or the ocean.
