• Connect My Wearable and Use It with the Runtastic App

    In order to use your wearable with your Runtastic app, you need to log in to the Steps app with the same credentials as the Runtastic app (use the same account).

    This way activities are already being synced to your Steps app. The wearable will also show you your current values during an activity.

    In order to choose what information is being displayed on your Orbit, open the settings within your Runtastic app. On this screen, you will find the option "Runtastic Wearables“ under “App Settings”. Here you can choose what to display on your Orbit.

  • Connection Problems with Your Orbit

    There might be several reasons why your Orbit is not connecting to your phone anymore.

    Please follow one or more of the steps below in order to successfully connect to your Orbit:

    1.

    • Turn your phone to flight mode to deactivate all possible connections
    • Go to your phone’s settings and select “Apps”, select the Steps app and tap “Force stop”
    • Restart your phone  

    2.

    • Tap the “Profile” tab followed by the gear icon
    • Go to “Wearables” in the Steps app
    • Scroll to the bottom of the screen and remove your Orbit (Note: all your data saved on the Orbit will be deleted)

    3.

    Reset your Orbit by pressing the small button on the back of your Orbit for approximately 10 seconds (Note: all your data saved on the Orbit will be deleted)

    4.

    • Delete the Steps app
    • Restart your smartphone
    • Reinstall the Steps app
    • Connect your Orbit
  • Active Minutes

    Tap the “Progress” tab and scroll down to “Active Minutes” to see a summary of your average Active Minutes per day. For a more detailed insight into your statistics, tap “Show more”.

    Active Minutes are accumulated by the following two methods:

    • All minutes in which you are moving (steps are being detected) while surpassing a certain amount of speed.
    • When using other Runtastic apps, all Active Minutes of a session will be imported here as well.
  • Adding/Searching for Friends

    Have you already added your real-life friends on Runtastic.com or directly in your Steps app? You should! Connect with friends and benefit from the advantages of an awesome community.

    To add or search for a Runtastic friend, tap “Newsfeed” on the tab bar followed by the icon in the top right corner.

    As soon as you are in the “Friends” screen, you are able to accept or decline friend requests, search for friends or see your current friends.

  • Battery Status of My Moment

    If your Moment battery is about to die, the watch hands will stop at 12 o'clock, and the progress hand will also move to the little moon symbol without having activated Sleep Mode. You will then know it's time to exchange the battery. If you change the battery yourself, follow the directions given in the Quick Instructions precisely.

    It is not necessary to exchange the battery before your Moment indicates it is time to do so. However, if you do decide to insert a new battery before the old one is completely empty, you will then need to calibrate the hands of your Moment again in order to use it. See this article for detailed instructions.

  • Battery Status of My Orbit

    In order to see the battery status of your Orbit, tap the “Profile” tab followed by the gear icon in the top right corner. Now select the “Wearables" option.

    The battery status is indicated in percentage. If it shows 25% of charge left or below, you may want to recharge the device soon.

  • Calculation of Calories Burned

    Tap the “Progress” tab and scroll down to “Calories Burned” to view your average calories burned in the last 7 days compared to your yearly average. For a more detailed insight into your statistics, tap “Show more”.

    The calculated value for calories burned is based on some of your personal information such as your height, weight, sex and age. We also make sure to take different kinds of step patterns into account. For example, 100 steps per minute are not the same as 10 x 10 steps in a minute.

    All activities tracked with your other Runtastic apps are also integrated, although we always take the more accurate calculation into account. Activities completed with other Runtastic apps are marked by a blue sports icon.

  • Calibrating My Moment

    The hands of your Moment need calibration whenever the time is not displayed correctly. Therefore, make sure your Moment is connected to your smartphone. Tap the “Profile” tab followed by the gear icon and select “Wearables” followed by “Moment.” Select “Calibrate watch hands” to set the watch hands to the right time.

  • Change My Profile Details

    Follow these simple steps to change your profile details in the Steps app:

    • Tap “Profile” on the tab bar
    • Tap the gear icon in the top right corner
    • Select “User Profile”
    • Now you can change your profile settings, e.g. your birthdate, height or weight
  • Change Units

    Follow these simple steps to change units in the Steps app:

    • Tap the “Profile” tab
    • Tap the gear icon in the top right corner
    • Select “Units”
    • Now you can change the units of distance and weight by tapping each one
  • Connect My Wearable to the Steps App

    In order to connect your Runtastic wearable to the Steps app, follow these steps:

    • Tap the “Profile” tab followed by the gear icon in the top right corner
    • Select the option "Wearables"
    • Tap "Connect now"

    Please make sure that Bluetooth is activated on your phone. If so, the wearable should be found within a few seconds.

    Note: Make sure to activate your location in order to connect a device with Bluetooth. To do so, go to “Settings” on your phone and select the Steps app. Tap “Permissions” and enable access to your location for the Steps app.

  • Disconnect a Wearable from My Account

    In order to disconnect your wearable from the Steps app, follow these steps: 

    • Tap the “Profile” tab followed by the gear icon
    • Select the "Wearables" option
    • Now scroll to the bottom where you can see the “Hardware ID” of your wearable
    • Tap "Remove this Wearable" to disconnect the device from the app.
  • Enable Idle Notifications

    In order to receive a notification as soon as the wearable realizes that you have not been moving for a certain amount of time, e.g. 45 minutes, you have to switch on the Idle Notifications. To do so, follow these instructions:

    • Tap “Profile”
    • Select "Wearables"
    • Now, select "Idle Notifications" to toggle notifications on or off

    If you activate this feature, you will be able to choose the time frame within which you will receive a gentle vibration from your wearable after being inactive for a certain period.

  • Import Google Fit History

    Follow these simple steps to import your historical data from Google Fit to the Steps app:

    • Navigate to the “Profile” tab
    • Tap the gear icon to get to the app settings
    • Tap “Step Tracking Sources”
    • Tap “Start import”

    This process may take some time if you have a large amount of data to import.

  • Log Out

    To log out of the Steps app, follow these steps:

    • Tap the “Profile” tab
    • Now tap the gear icon
    • Select “Log out” at the bottom
  • Moment

    If you connect your Moment to the Runtastic app, the clock hands will stop at 12 o'clock. Start your workout and the hour hand will show the kilometers/miles covered. The minute hand measures the meters — one full cycle corresponds to 1,000 m. The progress hand will still show the progress towards your daily step goal.

    After an activity such as walking or running, your Steps app will show you the values from the Runtastic app which will also be included in your daily statistics.

  • My Sleep Sessions

    You are able to view the details of your sleep session in the Steps app if you track your sleep sessions with the Sleep Better app or with a Runtastic wearable.

    Your “last sleep session” is displayed when you tap the “Progress” tab and scroll to the bottom. To have a complete overview of your sleep sessions, tap “See more” next to “Last sleep session”. Here, you can filter your sleep data by “Day”, “Week”, “Month” or “Year” to gain more insights into your sleep habits.

  • Newsfeed

    The News Feed allows you to stay connected with your Runtastic friends, get motivated by their progress in any of our Runtastic apps and gain extra accountability knowing that your friends can see when you are (or are not) doing your workouts.

  • Notifications

    Notifications help you get a “Weekly Summary” of your statistics, for example.

    Follow these simple steps to edit the Notifications settings in the Steps app:

    • Tap the “Profile” Tab at the bottom
    • Tap the gear icon to get to “Settings”
    • Tap “Notifications”
    • Select which notifications you would like to receive
  • Orbit Notifications Beta-Version

    The Orbit Notification feature allows you to enable applications to forward notifications to your Runtastic Orbit. This means that whenever you receive a call, message or someone tags you on a picture on Facebook, your Orbit will inform you about it by vibrating and showing you the relevant icon.

       

    Activating Orbit Notifications on Your Phone

    To activate the notification feature, tap the “Profile” tab followed by the gear icon and choose “Wearables”. In this section, you will find “Orbit Notifications”. Toggle the controller right next to it to enable it.

    Make sure that the "Notification access" for the Runtastic Steps app is activated on your phone. If not, the Steps app will guide you through it when you try to activate the notifications feature. (see images)

    Tap "Give Permission" to get to the settings of your phone. Toggle the permissions next to "Runtastic Steps" and then tap "OK".

    In addition, make sure that the phone is in Bluetooth range. The Orbit will only vibrate if the vibration on your phone is activated as well. Otherwise, only the icon (and text) will show on your Orbit.

    Please note that it might take a few seconds for the notification to appear on your Orbit after appearing on your phone. When your Orbit is in Sleep Mode, no notifications are displayed.

    Note: This is a beta feature and might not work perfectly!

    Supported Applications

    The feature supports the following applications:

    Phone Call | Missed Call | SMS | Hangouts | Google Mail | Facebook | Facebook Messenger | Whats App | Skype | Viber | Instagram | Twitter | Fiber | Line | Telegram | WeChat | Mailbox | Google Plus | Kakao Talk | Tango | Snapchat | Weibo

    Applications that are supported and installed on your phone will be displayed in the notifications list in the Steps app.

    Enable/Disable Specific Notifications

    You might not wish to get a notification for all your apps installed. Therefore, you are able to enable/disable the notifications. To do so, tap the “Profile” tab followed by the gear icon and select “Wearables”. In this section, you will find “Orbit Notifications”. Tap it to view all your applications in use. To enable/disable a notification for a specific application, tap the box/tick next to it.

    Displaying App Icon & Text or Only App Icon on Your Orbit

    You have the possibility to choose whether you would like the app icon and text or just the app icon to be displayed on your Orbit. To do so, tap the “Profile” tab followed by the gear icon and select “Wearables”. Now choose “Orbit Notifications” and tap the application you’d like to edit (e.g. Gmail). A box will show up with the texts “Display icon and text” and “Display icon only”.

    You can choose between those two depending on which way you would like to view, for example, an incoming email on your Orbit.

    Now, when you receive, for example, a new email, there will be either the letter icon plus the name of the sender or just the letter icon displayed on your Orbit.

    Note: This feature is automatically disabled and needs to be enabled by you!

  • Plans

    Whether your goal is to lose weight, to kick-start your fitness or to take your active lifestyle to the next level, as a Premium member* you can choose from three individual training plans  to help you walk your way towards a healthier you!

    Training plans are tailored to you based on your recent activity level and include varying combinations of daily steps and active minutes goals (including set rest days!) to help you push your limits and go a little bit further day by day, week by week.

    Start a Plan

    To get started with your training plan, follow the simple steps below:

    • Tap the “Plan” tab in your tab bar to view the available plans
    • Select the plan that sparks your interest and check out the full description
    • If the plan fits your goals, just tap “Start your plan” and the plan will be activated in the app

    Stop a Plan

    If you’ve already started a plan and wish to discontinue your training, follow these steps:

    • Tap the “Profile” tab
    • Select the gear icon in the top right corner
    • Choose “Training plan” under “App Settings”
    • Tap “Stop plan”.

  • Privacy Settings - Leaderboard

    Follow these steps to join or leave the “Leaderboard”:

    • Tap the “Profile” tab followed by the gear icon
    • Now tap “Privacy” below “Personal Settings”
    • Toggle on or off “Join Leaderboard”

     

  • Push Notifications

    Push Notifications help keep you informed directly in the Notifications Center of your phone.

    Follow these simple steps to edit the Push Notifications settings in the Steps app:

    • Tap the “Profile” Tab at the bottom
    • Tap the gear icon to get to “Settings”
    • Tap “Notifications”
    • Select “Push Notifications”
    • Choose which notifications you would like to receive
  • Selecting a Step-Tracking Source

    The Steps app allows you to determine which step-tracking source you would like it to use.

    To choose the appropriate step-tracking source, follow these simple steps:

    • Tap the “Profile” tab followed by the gear icon to enter the app settings
    • Select “Step Tracking Sources”
    • Choose your preferred tracking source

    Available Step-Tracking Sources

    Google Fit: Using Google Fit as your main step-tracking source is highly recommended! This means that if you are using a smartwatch or any other wearable with Google Fit support, the data tracked with your watch will be synced to the Steps app. Your data from the past 30 days will be imported, but you can also import your full Google Fit History.

    This Device: Using this option as your main step-tracking source means that the app will use your device’s motion sensor to collect your steps.

    Manually Add Steps via Google Fit: If the battery status of your phone is running low, you can manually add your steps via your Google Fit account. Your steps data will automatically be synced to the Steps app.

    Note: If you are using a Runtastic wearable, such as the Orbit or Moment, as soon as it is connected, your steps will automatically be synchronized to the Steps app. For more information on tracking steps with a wearable, take a look at this article.

  • Set an Alarm

    Follow these steps to set an alarm:

    • Tap the “Profile” tab followed by the gear icon
    • Now select the "Wearables" option
    • In the "Alarms" section, you can set up to three alarms

    To activate/deactivate an alarm, toggle on/off the controller right next to it. You can not only switch the alarm on and off but also choose on what weekdays the alarm should be active by simply tapping it.

  • Set Daily Step Goal

    In order to set a step goal, follow these steps:

    • Tap the “Profile” tab
    • Tap “Edit” next to “Daily Step Goal”
    • Adjust your goal by moving the bar
    • Save your changes by tapping “Set This Goal”

    We automatically set a healthy standard goal of 8,000 steps per day. You can change the goal by tapping “Edit”.

    Note: If you have an active plan, you won’t be able to change your step goal.

  • Sports activities in the Steps app

    If you are using Runtastic apps, such as the Runtastic app or the Runtastic Results app, your data will, of course, be integrated into the Steps app, too!

    Your completed activities will be marked by a blue sports icon in your statistics.

    Distance data will be imported from Walking, Hiking, Nordic Walking and Running activities in the Runtastic app.

    Calories and Active Minutes will be synchronized from all other activity types in the Runtastic app, as well as from sports sessions carried out in other apps across the Runtastic Portfolio.

  • Streak in the Steps App

    Have you reached your step goal at least two days in a row? Congratulations, you have started a streak!

    To view the amount of days you had your streak, simply tap the “Progress” tab in your tab bar and scroll to “Goal Streak”.

    Alternatively, you can tap the “Activity” tab to get an overview of your steps in the last seven days.

    If you have started a streak and again reached your goal, you will be informed about the total days and the starting date of the streak.

  • Synchronize My Wearable with the Steps App

    In order to synchronize your wearable with the Runtastic Steps app, navigate to the “Activity” tab and wait a moment. You will see a white circle in the top left corner — your data is synchronizing.

    Note: Please make sure that Bluetooth is activated on your phone.

  • The Leaderboard in the Steps App

    Are you wondering how many steps your friends accomplish each week or month? The Leaderboard in the Steps App is just the right tool to answer that question!

    To be part of the Leaderboard, make sure that “Join Leaderboard” is activated in the Privacy Settings. To do so, simply follow these steps:

    • Tap the “Profile” Tab in the tab bar
    • Tap the gear icon
    • Select “Privacy”
    • Activate “Join Leaderboard”

    To access the Leaderboard, tap “Progress” and scroll down. Now tap “See More” next to “Leaderboard”.

    You can choose whether you would like to compare your Steps or Active Minutes with your Runtastic Friends’ by tapping on the current value. Furthermore, you can choose between "this month", "last month", "this week" or "last week".
