• adidas Runners: Check in Manually to Events

You don’t want to bring your phone along on the run? Simply check in manually and leave your phone at the runbase. In order to check in manually to an AR event, follow the simple steps below:

    • Be sure to join your chosen running event first by following the steps in this article
    • You’ll see the “Check In Manually” button appear on the event details screen 30 minutes before the event start time.
    • Once you have arrived at your event location, tap “Check In Manually”. (Make sure you’ve got an active GPS signal)
    • Now you are checked in and the event will count towards your AR level!

If you’re facing issues checking in manually, follow the short steps below:

    • Make sure you’ve given the adidas Running app permission to access your location and that the GPS indicator is green.
    • Make sure you are at the right AR event location.
    • Make sure that you check in within 30 minutes of the event start time.

If you still want to track the run after you have already checked in manually, don’t worry! Only your tracked activity will be counted and added to the leaderboard.

Note: After you’ve checked in, you are unable to leave the event.

  • What happened to my AR Runs at the end of the year?

You’ll notice that your AR Run total has been set to zero. However, your level will remain the same until exactly 12 months after you last leveled up.

What About the Rest of 2019?

We’ll keep running together, of course!

    • You’ll maintain your current level for 12 months from the date you last leveled up in 2018.
    • To keep your current level also after these 12 months have passed, you need to complete the number of runs specified to earn that level again.
Let’s say you levelled up to Bronze on October 22nd, 2018 – this means you’ll keep your Bronze Level until October 21st, 2019. To keep it afterwards, you’ll have to participate in at least 15 AR Runs between January 1st and October 21st, 2019.
    • You can never drop back to Starter Level once you’ve reached the adidas Runners level.
    • If you complete more runs and qualify to level up, you’ll reach the next level, as always.

  • Can I edit or delete my activity after tracking an adidas Runners event?

It is possible to edit your activity after you’ve finished tracking with the adidas Running app. To do so, follow the short instructions in this article.

Note: If you add an activity manually in the adidas Running app, this activity will not count towards your adidas Runners level. We can only confirm your participation in events where you’ve tracked your running activity live with a GPS signal or checked in manually to the AR event.

Important: If you delete your activity, it unfortunately cannot be recovered and will be removed from your AR statistics.

  • How do I ensure that my event participation counts towards my adidas Runners level?

To ensure that your adidas Runners event counts towards your adidas Runners level, you must either track the activity with the adidas Running app (or with devices that sync directly to your adidas account), or check in to the event manually. If you want to earn credit for your AR event by checking in to the event manually, please read the article here.

If you want to earn credit for your AR event by tracking the event, you must ensure that the following criteria are met:

Track your event activity with the adidas Running app or with devices that sync directly to your adidas account

Join the adidas Runners event in the adidas Running app before it starts - Make sure you join the event no later than 60 minutes after the scheduled event start time.

Set your activity type according to the event in the adidas Running app  - Only GPS-tracked running activities will be confirmed as AR Events. For help with this step, please see here if you are using an iPhone or here if you’re using an Android device. Make sure your phone is fully charged to ensure you can track the entire event.

Be ready at the event start location at the official start time and don’t forget to hit start on the adidas Running app when the event gets going! Your GPS location and the start time of your activity will confirm your participation in the event (Don’t worry if the event doesn’t start at the exact scheduled start time –  we’ll take this into account and you won’t lose out!)

After the event is over, make sure you have an active internet connection - To enable us to confirm your participation, an internet connection is required.

As long as you carry out the above steps, your event participation will qualify as an AR event and count towards your all important adidas Runners level. See here to find out more about AR events and levels.

Note: If you add an activity manually in the adidas Running app, this activity will not count towards your adidas Runners level. We can only confirm your participation in events where you’ve tracked your running activity live with a GPS signal or checked in manually to the AR event.

    • The event clashes with another one of your joined events - It is not possible to join two events with overlapping start or end times.

  • What are AR Events and Credits?

AR events are adidas Runners events* that you’ve participated in and tracked or manually checked into with the adidas Running app.

Your level represents your commitment. The more AR events you join and complete, the more credits you will receive. The more credits you have, the higher your AR level will be. We won’t spoil any surprises, but we give back to those who put in the work.

For one AR event participation, you’ll receive 1 AR Credit. If you join one of our Changemaker events, you have the chance to do something good and also earn 2 AR Credits for participating!

To see what you’ll be working towards, check out a summary of the credits and the AR events required to achieve them.

Example: Once you’ve completed your fifth event, you’ll level up to adidas Runners Level.

  • Do I have to use the adidas Running app to be part of adidas Runners?
