We want to let you know that we’ve decided to say goodbye to the Routes feature within the adidas Running app.
Our priority is providing an awesome app experience, no matter which of our apps you use. That’s why we are focusing our energy on the features where we see the greatest potential.
We’ve now partnered up with route provider app Komoot to provide you with an exciting way to stay active outdoors.
What does the fadeout mean for you?
Don’t worry, you can still download your routes in the adidas Running app by following the steps below, until 6th of April, 2021:
Android:
- Open the adidas Running app
- Go to your activity screen and click on settings (gear icon) next to “Start”
- Now click on “Select Your Route”
- Here you can choose between your marked, created or completed routes
- Once you click on “Start exploring” in the respective category, you’ll be able to see all created routes
- To start the export click on your preferred route
- Click on “Export as .gpx file”
- Select where you want to export the GPX file to.
Please, note that you can only export one route at a time. After you export your routes as a GPX file, you can import the routes to other route provider apps.
While you might still see the Routes feature available in your setup activity screen, you are no longer able to explore, use or create a new route within the adidas Running app after April 6th, 2021. If this is the case for you, please simply update your app to the latest version and the Routes feature should disappear from the activity setup screen completely.
After the fadeout date your completed routes will also no longer be linked to your past activities.
What does this partnership mean for you?
We know that you might miss this feature, which is why we made sure to have an alternative ready for you. We are excited to let you know that we partnered up with Komoot, an app that lets you discover, plan, and share routes for different sports.
Driven by a desire to explore, and powered by the outdoor community’s recommendations, it’s Komoot’s mission to inspire great adventures making them accessible to all.
- Connect with other athletes and explore the great outdoors
- Get inspired by tapping into an online community and get recommendations
- Bring your adventures to life with the easy route planner.
We sent our recent Routes users a code for a Region Bundle from Komoot via email and also in your notification inbox in the adidas Running app. Make sure to also check your spam folder for our email.
With the Region Bundle you can unlock routes for multiple regions, use voice navigation, offline maps and receive weekly updates for your route activities. If you want to navigate and upload your exported GPx files directly to Komoot, make sure to follow the steps described in this article. There is also a Komoot support article for export and import here.
If you would like to see your new Komoot activities in the adidas Running app, make sure to connect your Komoot account to your Garmin, Polar or Suunto device (Komoot available devices) and your adidas Running account to the same Garmin, Polar, or Suunto device (adidas Running Partner Accounts).
As soon as you connect your Komoot and adidas Running accounts to the same smartwatch device, every activity that you do with the Komoot app will be synced to your adidas Running app. This means the activities you do with Komoot still count towards Virtual Races, Challenges, to your training plan and Goals that you have set in the adidas Running app. If you are a Creators Club member, you will also receive your Creators Club points. *
We don’t just want to stop here, so be on the lookout for more partners to come in the future to even further improve your route experience in connection with adidas Running.
If you face any difficulties with redeeming your Komoot Regional bundle code, please reach out to our Customer Happiness team by submitting a ticket below.
*Only in countries where Creators Club is available.
